Hi there, I’m pretty excited about this one, but then I get excited about any of my projects when they are completed. 🙂 I have been pulling out fabric and projects that I have had tucked away and I am determined to get them finished. So few weeks ago I got these panels out and started sewing them together as you can see in my earlier post about Spring is in The Air . I said I was going to do some machine embroidery on the edge panels with my Hyper Font program. What a dream this program is. I can turn any True Type Font into machine embroidered text. Its always good to do a test stitch out though when you are creating with a new font. Some fonts stitch out better then others and some fonts are better for larger text and some better for smaller text. I wouldn’t go smaller then 1/2 ” with most because they can get obscured.
This Font is called “talking to the moon” There are a few sites where you can download free fonts. I forget where I got this one as it was a year or so ago when I downloaded it and I don’t always keep good notes 🙂
I’ve also been playing with a fun logo idea. The needle and thread design is from Embroidery Library, they are my fav site for buying designs. I stitched up this little panel to sew onto the back of the quilt.
The wall hanging is actually a family wall hanging more then a spring time one. But with the birds and flowers it has that spring time feeling. This one will probably be a permanent fixture on this wall and it looks so bright as you first come into the entry way, with one of my fav says “Together is the best place to be ” and on one side I stitched ” family” and “love” and on the other “friends ” and “joy”
The wall hanging is 79cm X 134.5cm ( 31″ X 53″)
This is my first official project that I’ve stitched the quilting entirely with free motion quilting on my Singer Quantum Stylist 9960, except for the machine stitching I did on the blue borders. I have stitched a lot of practise pieces and tried a little bit of free motion quilting on this and that, but to have a whole piece stitched, well I was quite nervous. But I told myself I wasn’t going to pick out any stitching either, it is what it is when I’m finished. And not being one to colour inside the lines, well that was my challenge. Of course I didn’t stitch it in a day. It was more like 3 days lol A morning here and an afternoon there.
So please don’t look too closely lol I have no plan and I wasn’t sure what to do or where I was going until I got there. I have watched a couple of free motion classes on Craftsy and just went ahead and tried 🙂 I knew when it was time to rest when I would make a sharp turn instead of a nicely rounded curve LOL No… I won’t be stitching gorgeous feathers but I am happy to scroll around the shapes or maybe I should stick to stitchin in the ditch lol
I welcome any comments from other quilters and advise …I can always use advise !!
I hope you have a great week and happy stitching
